Ebay rule reminder

Hi all!

There have been several threads and posts written recently in which people have alerted everyone about an item they had spotted on ebay. Some of these posts have been ok, some have broken our ebay rule, and some of them have been borderline. So I'm thinking that maybe it's time for a reminder of what the rule actually says. [img]wink.gif[/img]

"4. Regarding eBay: This can be a sensitive topic, so here are the guidelines on posting about eBay:

You may post links to eBay auctions if:

--You want others to know about a possible good deal

--You know that someone on the board is looking for a specific item (subject to the restrictions below)

--Others might be interested in the item

--If it is something especially noteworthy

--You may also post about your own auctions, but they must be American Girl related

--If it is a closed auction.

You may not post links to eBay auctions if:

--It is already obvious that there is a mistake in the item description or picture and everyone knows it, or if the sole reason for posting the auction is to remark on a high price. These situations lead easily to making fun of sellers and bidders, complaining, and allegations of fraud.

--You are questioning the authenticity of the item. You may post a question about the listing as described below. This applies to completed as well as open auctions.

--You may not post links to auctions of any retired AG items that appear in anyone's "eBay Wish list," which you can find in a sticky thread at the top of the board. This goes for Buy It Now (BIN) auctions as well as regular auctions. If you see an auction for an item on someone's "eBay Wish list," send a private message to the person who is interested in that item.

--If you are not sure whether posting about an auction is OK, contact a moderator first and ask.

--If you have an "eBay Wish list" in the sticky thread, be sure to update it promptly if you manage to obtain anything on your list. Lists not created or edited during the last two months will be deleted. Keep your post as short as possible by:

--Removing obtained items, not striking through them

--When you update your post, delete previous ?Edited by? entries created by prior edits

--Keeping to the limit of 5 items as described in the first post in the sticky"
